Background:

Broadway Community High School opened in September 1991 after the amalgamation of the Grange Park Community High School and Rivington High School. Broadway Community High School is a county comprehensive school for boys and girls in the 11-16, age range. As a community school its aim is to provide opportunities to all members of its community to continue their education, participate in leisure pursuits and engage in social, recreational and cultural activities. There is a wide and varied programme of activities both at lunchtime and after school. The school provides a broad based physical education programme in which all pupils participate. Extra-curricular sports clubs including school teams in invasive games and individual activities are available and pupils are actively encouraged to take a full part in these activities. The school aims to provide every pupil with an opportunity to take part in sport either individually or as part of a team. The school aims to meet the needs of the individual by ensuring equality of opportunity providing an entitlement curriculum for all, establishing effective teaching and learning situations and ensuring opportunity for growth and realisation of potential.
