Background:
The infant building was completed in 1912 and the present modern junior building was created from 'the old tin building' in the early 1970s, with the two schools amalgamating in 1990. In addition to the 'balanced and broadly based' National Curriculum, club activities are offered after school such as sports and drama workshops. Facilities include a school hall and adventure play area and the Vernon Sangster Sports Centre is used by the junior department. Sports include mini netball, benchball, mini soccer and short tennis. there is a school council, to which children from Years 5 and 6 are elected. Children contribute to many charities such as Marie Cure Cancer Care, Children in Need, Comic Relief, RNIB and Help the Aged, in addition to sponsoring a child in South America.
