Background:
The school was founded in 1860 by St Peter's Church of England Church and retains close links with the Parish Church and the local community, winning the Duchy of Lancaster Award for Community Service in 1999. The orginal single storey building has been 'altered many times' and currently houses seven classrooms, a central library area, Key Stage 1 resource area, a hall and staff offices. Extra-curricular activities include music, languages, sport, art and sign language. St Peter's school has its own 'large' playing field and has had competition successes in swimming, netball and rugby.
