Background:
St Austin's is a Catholic school with the main aim of 'teaching the Catholic faith by word and example'. Extra-curricular activities include choir, orchestra, athletics, cricket, French, general knowledge teams, football, netball, cross-country, art and gym. In 1999 the school's boys swimming team were Liverpool district champions and the girls athletics team won the district schools athletics championships. The school choir, orchestra and instrumentalists perform at the school's Christmas and summer music evenings, and the choir sings in various carol concerts and churches in the community. Charity contributions have been made to CAFOD, UNICEF, the Nugent Care Society and Operation Christmas Child.
