Background:
One of the largest schools in Sefton, Deyes is over-subscribed and receives an average of 277 applications for 234 places. The school has 'many strengths' and offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including sporting activities that cater for many interests such as soccer, rugby, badminton, gymnastics, dance, netball, hockey and judo. The school won the Sports Mark award in 1998. To supplement work done in lessons, many visits are arranged, usually as day excursions to places of interest. However, the school also encourages more extended trips abroad. Pupils are also encouraged to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Other clubs include art, computing, drama, books and electronics. Music is also popular and the school has an orchestra, chamber orchestra, choirs and instrumental tuition.
