Background:
Dovedale is a larger than average size junior school. A number of activities are offered to children out of school hours which include football, cricket, Christian club, French lessons, musical activities, recorders, chess, drama, tag rugby and running. Physical education plays an important part in school life. All children are encouraged to take part in sporting activities which include gymnastics, dance, games, swimming and some outdoor pursuits. There are various school teams available for those with interest and ability, and opportunity is given for lunchtime practice. Music is also an important subject at Dovedale and the music teaching is undertaken by staff from the 'Schools Music Service'. The school aims to provide a safe, happy, secure and supportive environment by encouraging understanding and respect for others irrespectiveof heritage, religion, gender or capability.
