Background:
Founded in 1859, the school serves the parishes of St Helen's and St Peter and St Paul. It occupies a split site, with a 60-place nursery at Northern Road and Key Stage 1 classes housed in the original school building, which has been extensively modernised. The Northern Road site has 'extensive' playing field facilities and children are provided with a 'range of after school activities' including football, cross-country, tennis club, and a keep fit club. The school boasts 'strong links' with the local community and hosts the annual Crosby 10 and five mile fun runs, organised by members of the school association, in addition to raising substantial amounts for local charities. Great Crosby has also forged links with BT which has arranged video conferencing and internet opportunities. 'Excellent' school band and choir complete the list of opportunities on offer.
