Background:
Founded in 1966; set in beautiful grounds; serves the parish of St Julie and the area of Eccleston in St Helens. Although the school has a relatively small percentage of children from ethnic minorities, it reports a strong tradition of multicultural education; non-Catholic pupils also constitute a small minority in the school, while being an integral part of the school family. The school emphasises: 'The pupils of the school, in general, come from well-motivated, supportive families and are capable of high standards of work.' The school has a proud record of achievements in all academic subjects as well as in sport and the arts. Broad and balanced curriculum. Before-school care, from 7.45am; after-school care, until 6pm. Over-subscribed, with 1.2 applications per place. Investor in People status (2003); DfES achievement award (2003).
